The Alliance for Interfaith Ministries (AIM)
is inviting the Charlottesville community to attend a benefit concert on
Sunday, Oct. 4 at 3 p.m. at the Meadows Presbyterian Church (2200 Angus
Road, Charlottesville). Vocal & instrumental ensembles and choral music
will be presented by members of local congregations. Refreshments will
follow. A suggested donation of $10/adult will be received to help AIM in
its outreach to the community.
AIM
was founded 28 years ago as an association of concerned citizens and local
congregations whose combined funds provide financial assistance to local
residents who are experiencing financial crises in their lives. The CARES
program (Coalition for Assisting Residents in Emergency Situations) assists
with the intake and assessment process. Help can be obtained for rent,
utilities, and smaller emergencies such as prescriptions, eye exams, car
repairs, and work-related supplies (uniforms, tools, etc). In 2008, AIM
helped over 800 clients. AIM also administers Energy Share funds from
Dominion Virginia Power to help with utility bills.
Wesley
Memorial Church has supported AIM for many years.Rev. Elizabeth Foss is on
the board of directors. Our own church choir will be participating in this
benefit concert so come out and hear your church friends raise their voices
in song! For more information about the concert, call the AIM office
(972-1704) or email: AIM@ntelos.net.
